At Homestead you are free to choose from a wide variety of options where books and materials are concerned.  Homestead materials range from traditional texts and workbooks to alternative materials that may be borrowed or copied from our curriculum boxes.   While the grade level guidelines are available, we hope to accommodate each student's interests, learning styles, abilities and goals.

Families and students are encouraged to choose materials from the Homestead library, from their own resources, educational videos and from the Internet. It is not necessary to purchase any of your own material unless a family desires to do so. 

Field trips are encouraged. Voluntary Homestead field trips are planned monthly and weekly optional classes are also available (these have currently been put onhold due to COVID-19, however, we are offering virtual options).   These classes include writing, math tutoring, cooking, art, clay and science.  If students express a need, the Homestead staff will do their best to find a way to meet it. 

Homestead school supports and encourages experiential learning. Projects based not just on grade level but on the student's interests, are encouraged.  Students are given the opportunity to have a voice and become a partner in the learning process.

Families are given opportunities to come together and network with other families who have also chosen to pursue educating at home. 

En el programa Homestead, usted tiene la libertad de elegir de entre una amplia variedad de opciones con respecto a libros y materiales educativos. Los materiales de Homestead incluyen desde textos tradicionales y cuadernos de trabajo hasta materiales alternativos que pueden ser alquilados o copiados de nuestros archivos curriculares. Si bien las normas de nivel de grado están disponibles, esperamos satisfacer los intereses, estilos de aprendizaje, habilidades y objetivos de cada estudiante.

Aconsejamos a las familias y a los estudiantes a seleccionar materiales de la biblioteca Homestead, de sus propios recursos, videos educativos y por Internet. No es necesario comprar su propio material de aprendizaje a menos que una familia desee hacerlo. 

Se recomienda asistir a las excursiones. Las excursiones voluntarias de Homestead se planean mensualmente y también se ofrecen clases opcionales semanales (actualmente estas clases se han suspendido debido al COVID-19, sin embargo, estamos ofreciendo opciones virtuales por internet). Estas clases incluyen escritura, tutoría de matemáticas, cocina, arte, arcilla y ciencias. Si los estudiantes expresan una necesidad, el personal de Homestead hará todo lo posible para encontrar una manera de satisfacerla. 

La escuela Homestead apoya y fomenta el aprendizaje experimental. Se estimulan los proyectos basados ​​no solo en el nivel de grado del estudiante sino también en sus propios intereses. Los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de dar sus puntos de vista y así convertirse en partes activas en el proceso de aprendizaje.

Las familias tienen la oportunidad de reunirse y hacer conexiones con otras familias que también han optado por elegir la educación en el hogar.
